Here's a little guide on the kind of music to get you started:
PS: This is an individual opinion. If you don't like it, feel free to throw it off the shelf..
1. Homecoming/ nostalgia
Country songs are the answer. Especially the old ones.. Shania Twain, Dolly Parton, Tom Petty, Kenny Rogers, John Denver. All of them talk of the good times we had, those small pleasures we cherish.
Even a good Indian would love a "Yun hi chala" on his car stereo, if it's roadtrips you have on your min; I'd recommend mixing it up with
2. Get high
I must say- I am totally against booze, drugs, smoke and shit, that can kill you eventually!
But listening to music, is a different level. It's close to travelling to another universe in your subconscious. Must try
3. Chillax n Relax
Holding a hot cuppa in a rainy day, lazing away your day on the hammock, a walk on the beach... it is all what we do to wind down from a busy life.
Your ears deserve to take a break from the noises of city life for a while. Give it the respect it deserves. Listening to slow songs like Norah Jones, and trip-hop artists like Massive Attack is what I'm talking about..!
4. Distress/ hate/ anger
Sharing your anger could actually help cool down. Scream it out, don't hold it back. I prefer Metalcore, and angry Rap. Eminem, Avenged Sevenfold, Guns N Roses: it works for me.
For the really crazy guys out there, you love death metal don't you?
5. Party time!
It should have a good beat to dance to ;)
6. Workaholic(Perspiration/ inspiration)
Tiesto, Armin van buuren, and countless other DJs.. all rock!
For inspiration, listen to soundtracks of your fav movies. For instance, Rocky, Gladiator etc etc
